Plan a day out together
Bring times, directions, food, preferences, and plans into one conversation.
What you’ll work on
- Agree on a place and time.
- Ask one follow-up question.
- Use a repair phrase when a detail is unclear.
A short conversation
Google voice when available; device voice as a fallback. Pinyin shows dictionary tones; natural speech includes the tone changes taught in the lessons.
明天我们一起去书店,好吗?
Shall we go to the bookshop together tomorrow?
好。我们几点见?
All right. What time shall we meet?
下午两点,在车站见。
At two in the afternoon, at the station.
然后我们去喝茶。
Then we will go and have tea.
好。我想买一本书。
Good. I would like to buy a book.
我也想买书。明天见!
I would like to buy a book too. See you tomorrow!
Propose something specific
A useful invitation includes a day, an action, and a place. 一起 means “together”. 好吗? at the end asks whether the suggestion is agreeable.
Answer with 好 when you agree, then ask for the missing detail. If the day does not work, say 我明天不能去 and suggest another time you already know how to express.
Confirm time and place
Repeat the two important details before ending the exchange. You can say 明天下午两点,在车站见. The repeated information prevents a misunderstanding and gives you another chance to hear the tones.
When you do not understand, use a repair phrase from Unit 1. Asking for repetition is a successful communication strategy, not a failed conversation.
Add one personal detail
A short preference or goal gives the other speaker something to respond to: 我想买一本书. A follow-up might ask 什么书? or compare two prices at the shop.
After studying the dialogue, cover it and build a new exchange with a different time or destination. Keep the grammar you know and change only a few details on each attempt.

Practice questions
Try every question, then check your answers. Capital letters and punctuation do not affect your score. Pinyin tone marks matter. For typed answers, use simplified characters or the taught pinyin (spacing is flexible).
Showing an answer makes that question a practice item worth zero for this attempt. Retry with the answers hidden when you’re ready. If audio cannot play, use Show answer / text to practice by reading.
Independent practice
These are independent practice tasks. The site does not record your voice, save your writing, or grade open-ended answers. Ask a teacher or conversation partner for feedback when you can.
Speaking practice
Hold a six-turn conversation: invite, agree, ask when, give a time and place, add an activity, and confirm. Use invented details.
Writing practice
Write a new version of the dialogue, changing the time and one activity. Read it aloud without looking at the English.
